Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with PatronSend in about 15 minutes.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Spektrix account
  • A DotDigital account (all Spektrix customers have one)
  • Your organization's CRA registration number and official address

Step 1: Create Your Organization

  1. Sign up at patronsend.com (opens in a new tab)
  2. Create a new organization
  3. You'll be guided through the onboarding wizard

Step 2: Enter Tax Registration Details

Enter your CRA registration information:

  • CRA Registration Number - Format: 123456789RR0001
  • Registered Charity Name - Your official registered name
  • Address - Your registered address for receipts

Step 3: Connect Spektrix

  1. Go to Settings > Spektrix
  2. Enter your Spektrix client name
  3. Enter your API credentials
  4. Click Test Connection to verify

Once connected, PatronSend will analyze your funds and suggest field mappings.

Step 4: Connect DotDigital

  1. Go to Settings > Email
  2. Enter your DotDigital API credentials
  3. Select your region
  4. Click Test Connection to verify

PatronSend will automatically register a webhook for delivery tracking.

Step 5: Customize Your Template (Optional)

This step is totally optional. PatronSend has a fully compliant default system template built in that will automatically be sent with any new tax receipts.

  1. Go to Templates > Document Templates > New Template
  2. Upload your custom branded PDF template, insert required fields and customize the layout
  3. Preview with sample data

Step 6: Generate a Test Receipt

  1. Go to Receipts > Create Receipt
  2. Enter a Spektrix Order ID or use manual entry
  3. Review the preview
  4. Click Generate Receipt

Congratulations! You're ready to start generating tax receipts.
